Not So Scary Halloween Celebration Ideas

Posted by Wendy Moyle on October 11, 2011

People of all ages love Halloween! While gruesome, scary décor and party themes are fun for older kids and adults, young children (and some fearful grown-ups) are often genuinely creeped out by frightening decorations. If this is you, take heart (but not literally), here are a number of not so scary Halloween celebration ideas:

Halloween Party Decorations-Outdoor and Indoor
Amazing outdoor and indoor Halloween decorations are readily available, even if you are catering to the lighter side of Halloween.

Outdoor
Start by placing a giant 3D lighted Jack O’Lantern on your front porch, or near your front door. Then hang a lighted spider web on your door or on your house. Dress up your steel garage door with the fun stix Halloween magnetic decorations, and stick the happy jack window wall graphic in your front window for added dimension to your outdoor decor. Stay outdoors or move to indoor decorating with personalized Halloween banners. Several suggestions for cute banners are: the personalized Halloween family banner, the candy corn personalized banner, trick or treaters banner, or the pumpkin personalized banner.

Indoor
Hang fun, colorful decorations from the ceiling at different heights. The fall fluffy hanging decorations are a great choice, especially in combination with the gruesome group hanging decorations. Then attach a mixture of decorations on your walls. In your entryway, the happy Halloween wall graphic with your family name on it is a welcoming sign to guests that this is a friendly Halloween celebration. Continue filling the walls with Halloween cheer as you put up the gruesome group glitter cutouts and the ghost felt cutout assortment. In the main party area, the stack o’Jack-O-Lanterns is a crazy and silly addition to the non-scary atmosphere.

Balloons
Halloween balloons are a friendly way to incorporate a light-hearted tone to your party setting. Group a bunch of black and orange polka dot latex balloons with some of these adorable mylar balloon choices: the black cat, the kooky bat, the giant witch hat, the haunted (or not so haunted) house, and the happy ghost. Don’t forget to have a helium tank at the ready to fill all of your balloons!

Halloween Party Activities
Capture the costumed guests by taking lots of photos! Provide exciting Halloween photo props and photo stand ins for the guests to indulge in a variety of poses.
Photo Props: Frankenstein, Scarecrow, or Witch
Photo Stand-Ins: Scarecrow, Mummy, Juggling Skeleton Child, or Pirate Photo Setting

Set up popular Halloween activities like the classic bobbing for apples, the pumpkin toss game, the inflatable pumpkin ball toss game, and the inflatable spider ring toss game.

Three adorable Halloween craft ideas are: assemble the Foamies candy corn bucket, put together the make a scarecrow craft kit, or paint the large paintable pumpkin.

Remember, when you want to please the crowd, you can’t go wrong with a Halloween pinata full of candy and other fun filler items!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Fill Your Halloween with Balloons

Posted by Wendy Moyle on July 22, 2010

Balloons can take center stage in your Halloween event decorating, and they can supply detail-oriented accents and fun surprises in centerpieces, bouquets and more.

Speaking of taking center stage, please check out our Halloween Balloon Arch shown at right. You can use it as an entrance to the event, as a photo prop, or both! Ours is a full 9’X9’ when fully assembled. You can get it with two colors of balloons included, or select your own balloons separately.

We’ve gone with the traditional black and orange balloons for this arch, along with some purple, and further embellished the arch with silhouettes and Halloween Glitter Cutouts. Next time maybe we’ll dangle one (or 3!) of our cute mini mylar spider balloons from top center.

You can tell there is a lot you can do with this balloon arch! Imagine creating more of a harvest theme with gold and brown balloons bedecked in colorful tissue leaves, or working school colors into it for an autumn Homecoming dance.

Whether it’s mylar character balloons you’re looking for, giant latex balloons or balloon equipment such as one of our great inflators, we’ve got it in our online Halloween Balloons shop. We hope you’ll visit soon!

Decorations for a Humorous Halloween

Posted by Wendy Moyle on July 30, 2007

Mummy StandeeHalloween may feature ghosts, monsters and zombies, but it doesn’t have to be scary. There are plenty of humorous Halloween decorations, costumes and party supplies to choose from for a Halloween that makes your friends and neighbors laugh, not scream!

Place a jack ‘o lantern stack light on your front porch to greet guests or tick-or-treaters with bright smiles.  Personalized Halloween banners are also great for sending your custom Halloween message. A zombie candy grabber is a great accessory for your front porch. Kids can pull candy out of the zombie’s stomach for a fun spin on trick-or-treating.

Guests or trick-or-treaters will love taking hilarious photos with our photo stand-ins. A Mummy Standee or Juggling Skeleton Photo-op are perfect for a fun monster photo. Couples or friends will get great pictures with a Frankie and Bride Photo-op.

Create a fun kids’ area at your Halloween party with a child’s Halloween castle decoration for a play area. Set up a pumpkin bean bag toss or a monster lab bean bag toss for the kids to play with. Adults will get a kick out of these games too (just make them stand further away!).Barber Chair Skeleton Everyone loves a piñata! A Frankenstein piñata is perfect for a treat-filled game at your Halloween party.

Special effects and animation are a great way to add some humor to your Halloween decorations. Add a barber chair skeleton to a tabletop and let him sing to your guests. Or, set up a dancing Frankenstein at the doorway to greet guests with a festive song and dance. A pumpkin giggle buddy will bring tons of laughs to any place you choose to hang it. Stick a talking vampire head in a dish and surround it with chips, cookies or candy for a table accent that will get guests gabbing.

Balloons are a simple, fun accent to any of your decorations. Halloween balloons will look great in clusters around your party space. Tie them together with a spider balloon weight with sound for a novel accent. A Frankenstein Mylar or dancing skeleton Mylar balloons are cute accents to your party décor.

Check out all of our Halloween decorations to create your own fun look. There are tons of Halloween party supplies, decorations and favors to fit your funny Halloween theme or for a scary Halloween too!
