Plan a Pumpkin Carving Party

Posted by Wendy Moyle on September 19, 2012

Oh, October.  It’s such an animated time of year with bustling ideas, parties, and fun.  Childhood-like energy vivaciously radiates through joyful smiles.  Adults passionately reminisce their childhood days as they blissfully entice little ghosts and goblins with both tricks and treats.  Pumpkins and scarecrows eagerly collect their sweet treats with spooky smirks. Everyone – young and young at heart, finds enjoyment in the frightening fun of happy hauntings and petrifying parties!

Host a Pumpkin Carving Party!

October is adorned with straw, warm colored mums, gourds, and pumpkins. What better way to decorate your haunted house than with a pumpkin, perfectly carved out by your munchkin. Watch the faces of your favorite little ghouls light up with excitement when they come to your pumpkin carving party!

Get as creepily creative as you’d like!

Carve Out Your Invites:

When planning a pumpkin carving party, it is important to set the date to your evening of thrills.

  • Consider a night when the weather is not too brisk, you’ll likely want to host the fun in your garage for easy clean up, and you’ll avoid the hands of your little ones getting too cold while they are playing in the pumpkin goo. The weather may be unavoidable in the event you want to show off your creativity at Halloween; pumpkins don’t last long once they’ve been carved.
  • Purchase and prepare your Halloween party invites with details. Don’t forget to include RSVP information; you’ll need it to prepare your party.
  • Send out your party invites to all of your guest goblins.

Planning For Your Party:

Give your little werewolf something to howl about!

After your guest goblins have returned their RSVPs, it is time to prepare for your party.

  • Stop by your local Farmer’s Market and purchase one carving-size pumpkin for each of your guests. You may want to have a couple extra on hand, too. If you don’t use them at the party, you can always place them out to embellish your home during the holidays.
  •  Pick up some pumpkin carving kits – remember to have enough carving utensils on hand for each of your guests.
  • Decorate your garage into a Halloween scene with fun room transformers such as Jack O Lantern Scene Setters or Pumpkin Paper Lanterns.  Let your creativity be your guide!
  • Add some fun to the party and lay out some pumpkin shaped goodie bags for the guest goblins.  Include nose glasses and Halloween party favors.
  • Jazz up your party with some eerie edibles – try your bones at making a pumpkin cake (you can add some fun with an iridescent Jack O Lantern pan). Remember your Halloween themed plates, napkins, tableware, and plastic ware if you will have edibles.
  • Let your heart go wild; just don’t let the vampires in!

Your Pumpkin Carving Party:

  • For easy clean up, lay a large tarp down on your garage floor. When the evening is over, you will have less gooey pumpkin guts to worry about.
  • Consider decorating a corner of the garage with little hay stacks and straw or potting plants of mums. Place the pumpkins in a pile to create a pumpkin patch. Let the kids have fun picking their favorite pumpkin.
  • You may even want to set the mood of the party by playing a Halloween CD.
  • Let your guests have a gooey good time carving their pumpkin!

After your little goblin guests have finished with their spooky carving fun, let them take their personalized pumpkin home as a party favor. You will likely be the hit of Halloween!

Happy Haunting!

Pick Your Poison Tableware Makes Halloween Tables Spooky & Chic

Posted by Wendy Moyle on August 7, 2009

Pick-Your-Poison-Halloween-TablewareIf you’re having a grown-up Halloween party, great Halloween tableware is a simple way to create an awesome Halloween atmosphere for your party. Our Pick Your Poison Tableware is a fantastic choice for your Halloween party.

The Pick Your Poison Tableware (shown at right) features a trendy damask print with skulls worked in for a twist, an orange border and cute, coordinating napkins that read “Bring Your Own Boos” and “Pick Your Poison.” Square dessert plates read “Halloween Spirits.”

Create a base for your fun tableware by covering the tables with orange or black plastic table covers or a spider web table roll. In the center of your table, place a Glitter Skull Centerpiece.

Hang our Skull Icon Personalized Banner at the entrance to your party or above the buffet table for a great personal touch to your party. Each of our banners is printed on heavy-duty, weather-resistant vinyl and make great keepsakes when you have your guests sign them. Plus, they’re reusable and come in several different sizes so you can find one that fits your space.

Place our Lighted Skull Standee next to your buffet table or doorway for a  coordinating spooky focal point. Guests can also pose for pictures with the standee, which measures 3′ wide x 5′ high. The 3D lighted skull is lit internally.

Add a Halloween theme to the beverages you serve too. Serve them out of personalized stadium cups or custom glassware. Add our Halloween Wine Bottle Labels or Halloween Soda Bottle Labels. They’re frightfully fun and read “Wicked Spirits,” “Devils Blood,” and “Vampire Blood” on the wine labels and “Spooky Sauce,” “Witch Brew,” and “Vampire Blood,” on the soda labels. Your guests will love them!

Finally, for a simple but fun favor, place a Squish Squoosh Skull at each place setting at your table. You can even use the Halloween toy to prop up place cards.

Host a Twilight Party with Vampire Decorations!

Posted by Wendy Moyle on June 23, 2009

haunted-house-decorationsTwilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer, plus the movies based off of them, have become a huge sensation! If you’re a Twilight fan and so are your friends, a Twilight party with vampire themed party supplies will be a hit! This party isn’t just great for Halloween. It’ll be fun for birthday parties or other celebrations! Here are our tips for creating a fun Twilight themed party!

Welcome guests to your party using a personalized vinyl banner. Our Haunted Cemetery Personalized Banner is a great choice. Our banners are printed with your custom wording on heavy-duty, weather-resistant vinyl and are available in several different sizes to fit your needs.

Create a focal point for your event and set the whole scene using our Haunted House Decorations. The Large Haunted Mansion Silhouette is 10 feet high and 9 ½ feet wide. The Small Haunted Mansion Silhouette is 46 ½ inches tall and 4 feet 7 inches wide. Add the flying bats and a Gargoyle Tombstone to complete the scene. These decorations are awesome for using at Halloween too.

Decorate your party space using black crepe roles or cob web print gossamer decorating material. Create swags, grapes and columns with the materials to further the look of a haunted home of a vampire family.

Use black balloons to add some extra dimension to your decorations. Create balloon bunches of odd numbers using black helium balloons and secure them with black curling ribbon to the backs of chairs or to black foil balloon weights. For an extra special touch, add a gold or silver crescent moon mylar balloon.

Add a spooky accent with cob webs and for a final touch create a garland of string ‘em bats around the room.

For your party food, cover tables with black plastic table covers and add some silver metallic star confetti. In the center of the table add black silk roses or our flaming table torches for an eerie effect. Use black or silver plastic tableware and coordinating cutlery to serve your snacks on.

For a fantastic party favor, hand out glow in the dark vampire fangs to guests at the door and they can use them during the party and for fun times to come.
